Reversible plate compactors for backfill and ground preparation
CIMEX reversible plate compactors combine vibration with forward and reverse travel. They are designed for compacting suitable fill and trench backfill, particularly where turning a conventional forward plate would be difficult.
Why choose a reversible plate?
Reverse travel lets the operator make repeated passes over the same area without manually turning the machine. This is useful in confined work areas, provided there is enough clearance for the plate and safe space for the operator.
Applications and selection
- Consolidating suitable granular backfill.
- Preparing compacted bases for construction and surfacing.
- Working in sufficiently wide trenches and restricted-access areas.
Compare operating weight, plate dimensions, centrifugal force and the manufacturer’s recommended working conditions. Match the machine to the material and layer thickness; a heavier plate is not automatically the best choice for every site. Check transport and lifting requirements before ordering.
Compaction depth
Achievable compaction depends on the material, moisture, layer thickness and number of passes as well as the machine. Place deep fills in appropriate layers and verify the density required by the project.
Frequently asked questions
How does a reversible plate differ from a forward plate?
A reversible plate can travel both forwards and backwards. A forward plate operates in one travel direction.
Can a reversible plate be used in any trench?
No. Check working width, edge stability, ventilation and operator clearance against the machine instructions and site conditions.
